Overview

PFx Rename X is designed around a simple requirement: see exactly what will happen to a group of filenames before anything is changed.

The current interface uses one new name, automatic numbering for batches, side-by-side previews and downloads. Original files on the device are unchanged.

Batch renaming becomes risky when the result is hidden until execution.

A useful renamer needs speed, but it also needs enough validation and preview information to prevent accidental conflicts or invalid names.

Make the preview the center of the workflow.

Rules are applied through a deterministic pipeline and the resulting names are validated before execution.

A local rename workbench with rules, preview, and conflict detection.

The engine supports extensible rename operations while the application keeps source files and resulting names visible side by side.

A renaming tool that makes large changes inspectable before they happen.

The same separation between rules, preview, validation, and execution also keeps the codebase open to additional rename operations.
